With the year coming to a close, you might be thinking about how you can achieve those goals you put in place at the beginning of the year. Sometimes, our goals can take a back seat to life, other responsibilities, or simply lack of motivation. But, completing a goal late is better than not completing one at all. 

So, let’s talk about how you can take action on any goal, so you can begin seeing progress and move toward achieving your set goals.

Reflect on Achieved and Remaining Goals

Taking the time to look back on the goals you’ve achieved and the goals you want to achieve will give you some clarity around how to be more successful. Notice patterns around goals you completed vs. goals you’ve yet to complete. Understand what made some goals easier to accomplish than others. 

Take this information and consider it as you plan to move forward on completing more goals. This will help you set yourself up for success!

Create An Action Plan

After you’ve reflected, it’s time to create an action plan, so you can begin putting the pieces into place. A goal action plan should include what your goals are specifically, dates you want to achieve them by, and steps to keep you accountable like accountability partners.

Put a Target Date on Your Goals

As mentioned above, you need to put a target date on your goals. This motivates you to accomplish them in a timely manner. This will also help you visualize actually achieving the said goal because you’ve attached a date.

You can also use dates to help you set your goals. What do you want to accomplish in the next year, 5 years, or 10? Working like this will help you visualize where you want your life to be which is a good motivator for achieving your goals!

Get an Accountability Partner

The best way to take action on your goals is by having support. According to The American Society of Training and Development, you are 65% more likely to meet a goal when you have an accountability partner. We are more likely to commit, more likely to take action, and more likely to commit when we check in with someone on our progress.
